SCFP Company History
Southern Cross Forest Products encompasses five wholly owned subsidary companies, Each of which are well established in the NZ forestry industry.
The cornerstone
company for SCFP initially was NZ Wood Moulding (NZWM). This
company was
purchased by SCFP Shareholders in 1998 and has established itself as a
leading
NZ supplier of Wood mouldings and kiln dried lumber to the USA. NZWM is has
established itself as the
leading NZ supplier of wood mouldings and dried lumber to the
US. NZWM is based at Mosgiel, not far from Dunedin in the South Island.
Millstream Lumber was established at the same time to ensure timeliness and quality of supply to NZWM. Millstream lumber has grown alongside NZWM adding dry-mill facilities to the sawmill in 2004.
Harveywood, like Millstream exists to ensure quality and timeliness of the supply of lumber to NZWM. The ownership in Harveywood was acquired in 2001.
Kauri Timber Products (KTP) has been exporting kiln dried lumber into Asia since 1986.
The addition of Thames Timber to the Group in 2004 doubled the size of SCFP. This purchase has elevated SCFP to being a significant player in the NZ Timber Industry and broadened the product range manufactured by the Group.
